Tobias Furneaux
First man to circumnavigate the world in both directions, accompanied Captain Cook on his 2nd voyage, made the earliest British chart of Tasmania - presumably responsible for some of the place names there such as Devonport, Launceston, Tamar etc. - commanded HMS Siren during the American War of Independence, and he was a Swilly boy, yet many Plymothians haven't heard of him.
He does, however, have a rather grand tomb by the entrance of Stoke Damerel Church.
